According to the operative data of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, during the 35th week of 2018, 436 people became ill with measles - 214 adults and 222 children. This is 18.9% less than the previous week. Thus, the reduction in the incidence of measles continues for the third consecutive week.
Since the beginning of the year 30363 people - 12440 adults and 17923 children - became ill with measles.
Most of all, measles infected in Lviv (total 5,913 people: 1,862 adults and 4,051 children), Transcarpathian (a total of 3,037 people: 573 adults and 2464 children), Ivano-Frankivsk (total 2,785 people: 793 adults and 1992 children), Odessa (total 2382 of a person: 1201 adults and 1181 children), the city of Kiev (total 2122 people: 1335 adults and 787 children) and Ternopil (total 1628 people: 634 adults and 994 children) areas.
Since the beginning of the year, 13 people died from measles complications: 9 children and 4 adults.
In the course of 2018, mandatory preventive vaccinations against measles for epidemic indications are provided: among the occupational risk groups:
medical workers, educational institutions and non-medical workers in public health institutions, representatives of law enforcement agencies (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, SBU, National Police of Ukraine, National Guard of Ukraine, Border Guard Service of Ukraine, State Security Service); students of educational institutions without age restriction.
For the immunization of these adult groups in Ukraine, the vaccine is available in all regions.
As of August 30, 2018 in Ukraine there are 745,409 doses for vaccination. This is reported on the MOH website.
