Scientists do not stop studying the human body, and this is bearing fruit - scientists from Australia discovered a new organ in humans.

Despite modern technologies and discoveries in the field of medicine, the human body is still covered with secrets. Scientists do not stop studying the human body, and this is bearing fruit - scientists from Australia discovered a new organ in humans.

The new body is responsible for rapid immunity, and to be precise - for the storage of B-lymphocytes, according to the publication Nature Communication. It is a long-lived subtype of B-lymphocytes, which is responsible for a rapid immune response and the production of a large number of immunoglobulins during reinfection or re-infection with the same pathogen. Due to this, the immune system remembers infectious agents, which allows them to better cope with them in the future.

Scientists have long assumed that such cells of "memory" are somewhere hiding in the human body. Earlier it was believed that they are located in the lymph nodes, but this assumption was erroneous, although not close to the truth. When studying lymph nodes, experts found small lymph nodes over the lymph nodes, which are literally stuffed with B cells. The discovery was achieved thanks to the use of a two-phase laser microscope:

it was precisely its degree of magnification and visualization that allowed us to see a new structure called the "subcapsular proliferative foci".

"Seeing how B cells work is incredible! In a new structure that was able to be seen for the first time, memory B cells are activated, clusters are formed in it. We are the first in the world to see how they move, interact with other cells of immunity and mutate right before our eyes! "- commented Dr. Imogen Moran.
