British scientists have found a new reason for the defeat of the army of Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo.

According to a study of the Imperial College of London, the result of the battle was influenced by the eruption of the volcano Tambora on the island of Sumbawa in 1815 two months before the battle, which changed the climate on the whole planet.

Dr. Matthew Dange found that the ejection of volcanic ash led to the formation of clouds that caused heavy rains in Europe.

The strongest rains on the territory of Europe are evidenced by memories of contemporaries, as well as works of art that describe those events.

The Battle of Waterloo was a turning point in Napoleon's attempt to regain power after returning from exile on the Italian island of Elba. However, it did not succeed.

After a devastating defeat, Napoleon was exiled to the island of Saint Helena, which he remained until the end of his days.
