According to scientists from the University of Arkansas, the use of cherry juice for only five days can transform the health of the intestines, increasing the level of beneficial bacteria. According to experts, the antioxidants contained in the cherry tree stimulate the multiplication of so-called "good" bacteria, which in turn protect the intestinal mucosa and reduce inflammation.

"Our results show that a unique blend of polyphenols in the cherry can help change the intestinal microbia, affecting the overall health," says Dr. Frank Carbonero. Previous studies suggest that good intestinal health not only improves digestion, but also activates people's immunity, maintains heart health and even helps control weight.

During the tests, the scientists examined 9 healthy adults aged 23 to 30 who drank 250 ml of cherry juice every day for five days. Stool samples of participants were evaluated before and after the experiment.

Specialists also analyzed the effect of antioxidants contained in the cherry in a laboratory-modeled digestive tract to determine how these nutrients affect the levels of intestinal bacteria. The results showed that cherry juice favorably affected the health of the digestive tract by activating the growth of beneficial bacteria.

Scientists believe that people who adhere to a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, especially benefit from the use of cherry juice.
