Passed by the fridge with ice cream, because it hurts my throat? Go back and boldly choose your favorite plombir! There is no reason to refuse cold treats, especially in hot weather. This is written by Ulyana Suprun, the head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, on her Facebook page.
"If the throat hurts, doctors usually recommend drinking a lot of warm liquid, gargle with a saline solution and avoiding spicy and sour food. Unusual advice, but you can use another method to ease the pain - eat cold food.
In fact, cold ice cream and frozen fruit juices work as an anesthetic, which helps to calm inflammation and give temporary relief of pain. This can in no case be a cure, however it is a good method of temporary anesthesia. Cold stimulates the reduction of edema, so it preserves the inflammatory processes in the throat. In addition, when there is swelling in the throat, it is very difficult to eat conventional foods. A small portion of ice cream helps reduce pain and facilitates the ingestion of food.
It is important to choose natural ice cream with a minimal amount of additives, as pieces of chocolate, nuts, raisins or other sugar ingredients can cause irritation. Or drink cold fruit juice without any additives.
Be sure to remember that there is ice cream in small portions and very slowly, without swallowing large chunks, after which it is worth rinsing the throat with water.
With a sore throat, avoid dry foods that can irritate the mucous: chips, crackers, any seasonings, smoked foods, coffee, raw vegetables ".
