Lentil is useful for diabetics and hypertensives

To this conclusion came the staff of the University of Guelph.

They found out that this product positively affects the endocrine and cardiovascular systems. Specialists even conducted a study involving more than 20 people. The participants were fed on two different schemes. The first one assumed the use of potatoes and rice in its pure form, and the second? mixture of potatoes and rice together with green and red lentils.

Before and after meals, volunteers measured blood sugar and blood pressure.

It turned out that with the use of rice and lentils, the sugar level in the blood was 20 percent lower compared to the figures for the consumption of rice in its pure form. A mixture of lentils and potatoes gave an indicator of sugar, which is 35% lower than potato alone. In addition, dishes with lentils led to a decrease in cholesterol and to the normalization of pressure.

The raw lentil contains 106 kcal. The product does not contain fats, which allows it to be consumed by people who are overweight, but it has carbohydrates that give a lasting sense of satiety.
