Dehydration can cause a number of health problems, especially in young children. In some cases, severe dehydration can even kill a person. To prevent dehydration in summer heat, nutritionist-endocrinologist Hasmik Abovyan advises following the simple rule - every hour during the day to drink a glass of water.

Thus, as noted specialist, the amount of salt in the diet is desirable to reduce, as salt, as is known, delays the fluid in the body, giving rise to edema and increasing blood pressure.

According to the expert, quite often people suffering from hypertension are afraid to drink water, even in the heat. As a result, their body is dehydrated, however, giving up water does not relieve them of edema, nor of increased blood pressure. Since both the edema and the pressure increase are not actually caused by water, but by salt, the expert recommends that everyone - including hypertensive patients - minimize the use of salt, then the fluid will cease to linger in the body.

Nutritionist also noted that to quench your thirst it is desirable to drink pure water: it can not be replaced by sweet soda, nor any other drinks. Salty drinks like the Armenian one, so beloved by many, will, as already noted above, contribute to water retention in the body, and sweet drinks are caloric and are associated with a number of health risks.

As for tea, coffee and other beverages containing caffeine, they have a diuretic effect, that is, promote the removal of fluid from the body. For example, it is believed that a cup of coffee or a glass of tea removes from the body 2 cups of water, so after a while after a cup of coffee or tea, you need to make up for the loss by drinking the appropriate amount of water. Therefore, tea and coffee are not suitable for providing the organization with a liquid and can not replace conventional water.
