Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman supported the proposal of the Ministry of Health to make vaccination mandatory.

He said this during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada.

"As for measles. You should have known that measles vaccinations occur in the first year, and then in the sixth year of the child. I want to say that what we reap today is what happened six years ago. Six years ago, no one planted. Six years ago, no one thought about this, so we have such outbreaks, "Groysman told MPs.

According to him, now in Ukraine there are all the necessary vaccines.

"We are working to maximize the vaccination of Ukrainian citizens. I will be the first to do these vaccinations on television, so that no one is afraid of anything.. Because it is the protection of citizens of Ukrainian citizens, life and health of people. So let's not get this to the Ministry of Health, but let's think about making changes to the national legislation that will make vaccinations compulsory, "said Groisman.

Recall, in early 2018 it became known that the Ministry of Health is preparing a bill on mandatory vaccination. It is assumed that it clearly regulates the issues of mandatory vaccination, strengthens the responsibility for refusing to vaccinate without medical contraindications, issuing fake certificates and guarantees compliance with the quality level of vaccines that are used in Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Health, the level of immunization in Ukraine is growing, but remains unsatisfactory.

The coverage of planned immunization against measles in 2017 has more than doubled and exceeded 90%. However, the level of vaccination against such dangerous diseases as diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus remains critically low. For example, last year only half of Ukrainian children 18 months were vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis and less than half of adults underwent scheduled revaccination from diphtheria and tetanus. 75% are vaccinated against poliomyelitis, 50% of children are against hepatitis B.
