Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun warns that sedentary work can cause cancer, diabetes and other health problems.
In this regard, she advises to move more, talk on the phone standing, climb the stairs, and not on the elevator, walk.
"Prolonged sitting and lack of activity are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, obesity, problems with the musculoskeletal system, type 2 diabetes and even some cancers," Ulyana Suprun wrote in Facebook.
According to her information, a sedentary lifestyle accounts for 9% of premature deaths among the world's population. The risk group in this case is people who spend a lot of time working at the table.
"Use every opportunity for extra activity.
Talk on the phone while standing, climb the stairs, and not on the elevator, walk on the escalator, discuss ideas with colleagues during the walk, "- advises and. the Minister.
In addition, the official advises to replace the transport services with pedestrian walks or get a bicycle.
"Walk or ride a bicycle at least part of the way. You can leave earlier for a few stops or park the car a little further from the office. Get up from the workplace every 30 minutes, "- says Suprun.
