Scientists have achieved serious results in the restoration of tooth enamel.

Scientists have proposed a way to speed up the restoration of tooth enamel based on small proteins. The authors are sure that as a result, a convenient method of counteracting caries. The article with the description is published in the scientific journal, reports GoGetNews.

The violation of the mineral composition of the outer layers of the teeth and the subsequent inflammatory process inside is a very common problem among all age groups of people. Initially, the tooth is damaged by bacteria that live in the oral cavity, which produce acids as a by-product of vital activity. Acids wash out minerals from the enamel, which disrupts the integrity of the outer layers of the tooth. The beginning of this process is relatively painless, but the lack of treatment leads to tooth loss, which can lead to serious complications.

"Remineralization based on peptides is a safe alternative to modern methods of dentistry," says lead author Mehmet Sarikaya from Washington University in the USA.

"Such a method will be simple to apply, in addition, one can resort to it without prescribing a doctor".

The idea of ??physicians is based on the study of the work of amelogenin - the key to the formation of human enamel. On its basis, it was possible to create similar compounds that stimulate natural mineralization of the dental tissues - they became a key component of the development. The authors proved that these proteins attach to the surface of the teeth and attach calcium and phosphate ions.
