Scientists have developed a drink that will be useful for people diagnosed with obesity and type 2 diabetes. These diseases are accompanied by an elevated blood sugar level. However, with the help of a new drink people will be able to maintain the concentration of sugar at a safe level.

Research in this area was carried out by scientists from the University of British Columbia and Oxford University. Twenty absolutely healthy people took part in the tests. They did not need to eat for ten hours. All volunteers were divided into two groups. Participants from the first were offered to drink a ketone drink. And the second - placebo. Also after thirty minutes, participants drank a solution that contains 75 grams of glucose.

Doctors watched the health of participants in the experiment.

Every 15-30 minutes they collected blood samples and analyzed for the concentration of sugar, fats and hormones. It turned out that the ketone drink (ketone ether) allowed to adjust the glucose content by lowering the blood sugar peaks.

According to experts, research should continue. After all, this test was conducted on absolutely healthy people. In the future, they plan to involve patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes.
