Experts conducted a study involving ten patients.

A group of American scientists found that freezing the vagus nerve contributes to a decrease in appetite and helps in the fight against excess weight. Their findings were published in the journal of the Society for Interventional Radiology.

It is noted that the staff of the Emory University School of Medicine, the University of New York in Buffalo and the Medical Center of the University of Pennsylvania conducted a study involving ten patients with the first and second degree of obesity.

Each of them underwent a procedure for freezing the posterior trunk of the vagus nerve, through which signals to the brain come to the brain and for 90 days observed the condition of the participants in the experiment.

According to the results of the study, all participants in the experiment noted a decrease in appetite. The weight of patients decreased by 3.6%, and the indices of excess body mass index dropped by 14%.

No complications and side effects after freezing of the vagus nerve were observed. Researchers indicated that the procedure is safe and gives real results.
