Worried about high cholesterol?.

Forget tablets - just eat more oats.

Oat-based dishes are more effective than giving up fatty foods when it comes to lowering cholesterol levels!.

Canadian researchers found that changing their diet after 6 months can lead to a significant reduction in the level of LDL cholesterol (it is often called "bad" cholesterol) - by as much as 13 percent!.

In the study, 345 patients, each suffering from high cholesterol, were divided into two groups.

The first group switched to low-fat meals, the second - to a diet rich in nuts, oats and soy products.



After six months in the first group (eliminating fatty foods from the diet), LDL-C level decreased by 3 percent, and in the second group - by 13 percent.

However, the switch to a diet that actively reduces LDL cholesterol led to a reduction of more than 13 percent: 13.1 percent in the group that had two visits and 13.8 percent for the group that had seven visits.

Nevertheless, doctors do not advise to neglect the advice to exclude fatty foods - for safety it is better to use both these methods of reducing cholesterol.
