Investigating the problem of a set of excess weight, experts have found out that obesity can be caused by an inadequate response of the human body to the cold. Experiments on experimental mice have confirmed that a large influence in the process of thermoregulation is exerted by genes.

Certain violations in the gene structure can cause an incorrect reaction of the body to the cold, which is one of the conditions of obesity. Scientists have confirmed this conjecture with a series of experiments on experimental mice.

In humans and mice, the system of temperature receptors and genes works very similarly, therefore, these rodents. As it turned out, any changes in the gene TRPM8 can lead to a loss of sensitivity to cold and more energy, and also to overheating at high temperatures.

In addition, the damaged gene caused mice to have an increased appetite, and under the condition of insomnia in the cold, it was particularly large, because of which rodents inevitably gained weight. In other words, the animal tried to keep warm by eating food.

It is interesting that the consequences of damage to the gene structure were manifested in mice not from birth, but only from the 24th week of their life, which, in fact, corresponds to the pubertal period in humans.
