Scientists from the University of Copenhagen conducted an interesting study that showed the relationship between lithium in water and the development of dementia.
According to the authors of the paper, depending on the concentration of lithium in water, the risks of developing dementia may either increase or decrease.
Scientists led by Lars Kessing analyzed water samples from 151 waterworks in Denmark. It was found that at a certain concentration of lithium, the risk of developing this disease can be reduced. The small content of the substance, on the contrary, affects the development of dementia.
Experts say that when using 5-10 micrograms of lithium per liter, the risk of developing dementia increases by twenty-two percent.
David Smith, an Oxford University employee, reports: "Despite these results, we can not add lithium to water in order to increase the mental capacity of mankind. It is very difficult to calculate the exact concentration, which means that we can worsen the situation ".
Before that, scientists talked about the fact that the absence of dreams indicates a greater risk of the appearance of dementia.
