Scientists from the United States found that obese people experience pain more often than others, even in the absence of chronic diseases that cause pain.

"Disease is the cause of the pain, but it is not necessarily the determining factor in a pair of obesity-bol," said Arthur Stone of the New York University Medical Center in Stony Brook.

Scientists analyzed the data received by consulting company Gallup in 2008-2010 with the help of telephone interviews of a million Americans. Questions were asked about weight and height, whether the respondents were experiencing pain in any part of the body on the eve of the survey, whether they suffer from diseases that cause painful sensations.

85% of volunteers were white, 94% had secondary or higher education. The body mass index showed that 36. 8% of respondents had a reduced or normal weight, 38. 3% - excessive, the remaining 24. 9% were obese of varying degrees.

It was also found that with the increase in body weight, the likelihood of various pain sensations.

As expected, a fairly significant share of pain in the respondents had a direct relationship with chronic diseases that are typical of obesity.

When scientists excluded these diseases from the examined, the frequency of chronic pain among groups with excess and normal weight was approximately equal. Nevertheless, in obese people, it was significantly higher.

The mechanism of this dependence is not clear. Stone believes that the cause of this may be mediators of inflammation produced by cells of adipose tissue that irritate the body's pain receptors. He suggested that attention be paid to the studied relationship of chronic obesity pains to a more thorough study of the cause.
