Used in agriculture, industrial pesticides can really make a person more disposed to the development of cancer, according to a new study by a group of scientists from the United States. At the same time, in the group of the greatest risk, as it turned out, there are children of preschool age, into the organism of which chemicals.

The study was conducted with the participation of 364 children - of whom 207 were under the age of five. All children consumed vegetables and fruits in accordance with their daily diet, bought in one of the regular supermarkets. Laboratory testing showed that in most cases in this production were exceeded the shares of arsenic, dieldrin and dioxins. In addition, more than 95% of pre-school children have exceeded the risk levels of consuming acrylamide - a byproduct of cooking often occurs in processed foods such as potatoes and chips. However, the markers of inflammation increased in the case of certain foods. Based on this, scientists concluded that tomato, peaches, apples, sweet pepper, grapes, lettuce, broccoli, strawberries, spinach, dairy products, pears, green beans and celery raised the risk of cancer development in the test group.

According to scientists, at present, it is extremely difficult to calculate the cumulative risks of cancer diseases that children receive when consuming seemingly safe food products. It can be assumed that depending on what specific foods are consumed, and also to what extent the risk of developing cancer can increase from 15% to 150%. At the same time, the same products from different manufacturers can contain fundamentally different levels of pesticides. In addition to the salts of heavy metals, in particular arsenic, lead and mercury, the risk of cancer can also increase the pesticides chlorpyrifos, permethrin and endosulfan, as well as persistent organic pollutants dioxins, dieldrines and chlordane, as well as by-products of the food industry.

Scientists conclude that at this level of pesticide use, which they observed in the study, they advise feeding children solely with organic products. "The risk of intestinal disorders, as well as a number of natural infections, which according to a number of studies is increased when using products of organic origin in terms of their harm, can not be compared to the harm from pesticides that a child can get through fruits and vegetables," the official research report.
