The exact cause of NNC has not yet been clarified, the influence of immunological mechanisms with the development of inflammatory processes. Predisposing factors are genetic factors, family predisposition, mutations in genes, infectious components that directly affect the inflammation of the intestine, and indirectly trigger an excessive immune response to nonpathogenic forms of microbes, as well as the involvement of autoimmune mechanisms with the formation of aggression to one's own gut cells.

In children, NUK arises as one of the frequent non-infectious bowel lesions, especially if there is an allergy and certain predisposing factors.

Mechanism of defeat.

Usually the process begins with the rectum, gradually spreading to the entire intestine. In a third of patients, inflammation is limited to the rectum and sigmoid colon, another third - additionally affects the colon. In the remaining lesions, the entire large intestine. Children usually develop common forms of the disease.

Changes in the intestine pass in several consecutive phases. The acute phase gives pronounced mucosal redness, swelling and bleeding. In the phase of remission, mucosal atrophy, a decrease in the vascular pattern and infiltrates.

Clinical symptoms.

The degree of symptom severity depends on the form. Isolated acute or chronic NNC. The acute process is manifested by sharp and vivid symptoms, but occurs infrequently. All the symptoms of the disease can be divided into local, intestinal and general symptoms.

Local symptoms include:.

stool with mucus, blood, sometimes with an admixture of pus. In this case, the blood arises as a result of traumatizing the ulcerous surfaces of the calves, is located on the surface, brightly scarlet.

disorders of stool in the form of constipation or diarrhea. In this case, diarrhea occurs up to three to four times a day, false desires for defecation (tenesmus) increase to 15-30 or more per day. Constipation is mainly typical of the rectal form.

pain in the lower abdomen of intense but not very strong character, colic, tingling, pulling pains.

bloating, especially in the lower parts.

Common symptoms of NUC:.

increase in temperature to 38 degrees due to inflammatory bowel processes, occurs in severe processes,.

weight loss, general asthenia and weakness, lack of appetite, loss of proteins due to diarrhea,.

disorders from the eyes in the form of lesions of the iris, vascular membrane or mucous membranes,.

pain of muscles and joints.

The course of the disease depends on the spread of the gut process and the phase of the disease. In case of an exacerbation, the symptoms are most pronounced, while in the stage of remission there can be practically no complaints. Especially dangerous is the adherence of complications, the process can have a progressive course.
