Scientists are urging the exclusion of orange juice from the diet because of the huge amount of sugar that is contained in it.

Professor Jebb herself some time ago completely ruled out the orange juice from her diet, and now she offers all the people who lead a healthy lifestyle, follow her example, or dissolve this drink with water before drinking. This scientist gives advice to the government of the country, which then turns into official recommendations for all citizens. For example, in the UK there is a recommendation for the use of five servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

"I would not include orange juice in this rule of five servings," says Professor Jebb. - The content of useful nutrients in this drink can not be compared with a similar indicator in real fruits and vegetables, because the juice contains the same amount of sugar as classic carbonated drinks. In addition, it is absorbed by the body too quickly, and by the time the drink reaches the stomach, the body does not really understand whether it is coca-cola or juice ".



According to the scientist, it will not be difficult for a person to refuse orange juice, replacing it with real fruit. Professor Jebb recently said that sugar is becoming as much a threat to the nation as tobacco or alcohol, encouraging food producers to reduce their sugar content by at least 30%. Professor Jebb was supported by many other scientists who calculated that such a reduction in the level of sugar will reduce the daily diet of an average person by 100 calories.

Given the accelerating epidemic of obesity, this decline seems quite urgent.
