As you know, vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, formed mainly by the action of sunlight. In its natural form it is contained only in some food products - fish, mushrooms, egg yolk and liver. There are two physiologically active forms of this vitamin: D2 and D3. Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is synthesized by plants, while vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is formed subcutaneously in humans by exposure to ultraviolet light from 7-dehydrocholecalciferol.

According to epidemiological studies, vitamin D deficiency is a common problem.

So, in a recent publication, a group of scientists at the University of Puerto Rico indicated that a deficiency in this vitamin analysis also revealed that the combined use of such supplements, on the contrary, increases the risk of premature birth. Differences in the remaining outcomes between the groups were statistically insignificant.

In their conclusions, scientists note that the question of routine vitamin D intake for all pregnant women is too early, because such evidence, as the results of research, at the moment there is little.
