Scientists from the University of Bristol found that excess weight affects the mortality rate to a much greater extent than previously thought.

Analyzing the data of the study, in which more than 130 thousand people took part, specialists came to the conclusion that in the overwhelming majority of cases the propensity to obesity is transmitted at the genetic level.



Thus, parents with a tendency to fullness in 78% of cases there are children with identical problems, so poor diet and sedentary lifestyle have nothing to do with it.

According to experts, previously the conclusions of scientists were influenced by other diseases transferred by a person.

"We found that previous studies underestimated the impact of excess weight on mortality, and our findings confirm current recommendations to maintain a BMI between 18.5 and 25," said one of the authors of the study, Dr. David Clark, "said lead author David Carsleyke.
