Experts of the World Health Organization recommend not to exceed the daily salt rate of five grams. If the salt intake exceeds the recommended rate by at least two times, a person may face unpleasant consequences for health. Excess salt in the diet changes the intestinal microflora. The result - hypertension, aggravation of the course of autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis.

This conclusion was made by an international group of scientists (from the USA, Belgium and Germany) after carrying out laboratory experiments. Subjects for a few weeks adhered to a diet with a normal salt level, then in their diet they added products with a high content (the amount was several times higher than WHO recommendations).

It was the latter model of nutrition that led to the death of lactobacilli (Lactobacillus murinus). At the same time, the pressure and quantity of Th17 immune cells, associated with hypertension and autoimmune diseases.

A study was also conducted involving 12 adult men who, over fourteen days, consumed 6 extra grams of salt daily. As a result, by the end of the survey, they had recorded the same changes that were noted in the laboratory experiment.
