The more we eat organic products, the more often the question arises: Are they really better than conventional analogues?.

If we talk about the content of omega-3 acids in milk and meat, then yes, organic foods are really better, according to the Internet edition for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. net Recall that by organic means such products that are grown naturally, without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

In order to classify livestock products as organic, livestock must graze on open pastures and feed exclusively on organic fodder. No growth hormones, antibiotics and other "chemical" additives.

Although the benefits of organic farming for the environment are obvious, we do not know much about the actual benefits of organic products for our body.

Professor Carlo Leifert (Carlo Leifert) together with his colleagues from the University of Newcastle in the UK conducted an analysis of more than 260 scientific studies on the nutritional composition of dairy and meat products, trying to find the difference.

The analysis included 196 milk studies and 67 studies of meat.

The results of this comparison were published in the British Journal of Nutrition.

50% more omega-3 fatty acids.

Compared to conventional products, organic milk and meat contain on average 50% more omega-3 fatty acids, which are so important for the heart and blood vessels. Omega-3 acids have a number of unique properties, including lower cholesterol and protect against coronary heart disease.

If 0.5 liters of fully organic milk is provided by our body to 39 mg of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, which is 16% of the daily requirement, then the same serving of regular milk gives only 25 mg, or 11% of the daily requirement.

In addition, organic meat contains less palmitic and myristic acids - two saturated acids, which are extremely dangerous for our blood vessels.

Based on the results of his analysis, Professor Leifert and his colleagues call for switching to the consumption of organic milk and meat, as products more useful for health, and for the environment.

"Some of these differences are due to different rates, the intensity of livestock growth. Grown in the open air, with access to fresh grass, animals manage to accumulate more valuable fatty acids, "says Leifert.

In addition, organic milk contains a little more iron, vitamin E and some carotenoids - natural plant pigments.

On the other hand, organic milk contains 74% less iodine, but for many regions of the world, iodine is a dubious necessity. Scientists pay attention that iodized salt is widely used in Europe, USA, China, Brazil and a number of other countries, therefore there is practically no iodine deficiency.

Recall that in 2014, other scientists found in organic cereals 69% more antioxidant substances than in traditionally grown crops.

Is not it time for us to think about a healthy alternative and make a choice in favor of organic?.
