The study shows that women do not need to postpone a new conception after a miscarriage, despite WHO recommendations.

Although the World Health Organization currently recommends that women wait at least 6 months before a new conception after a miscarriage in order to reduce the risk of another, in reality there is no need.

This conclusion was made by American scientists. They observed a group of women who had a miscarriage and found that those who managed to conceive a child within three months after the termination of pregnancy had the lowest probability of a second miscarriage compared to those women who waited from 6 months to a year and a half.

According to statistics, approximately 17% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. The majority of women who are confronted with them want to know whether it is possible to somehow prevent a second miscarriage. Women address this question to doctors, and some of them are advised to wait with a new conception. But the study clearly shows that it is not necessary to do this, and the fair sex can immediately try to conceive again the child.

In general, if the interval between miscarriage and new conception was less than three months, the risk of recurrent miscarriage was 7%. If women waited from 6 months to one and a half years, then it increased to 22%.

No influence on these figures was provided by the ethnic origin of the woman or the number of children already available. However, these were observations only on the basis of 514 women, and this number may not be enough for the final conclusions.
