Kharkov plans to build a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities

The city center for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities and ATU participants who were injured in the zone of military conflict are planning to open in Kharkov, in the territory of a social hotel.

This November 15, at a meeting with the director of the company GIZ-Ukraine Sabine Muller, the first deputy of the Kharkov mayor, Igor Terekhov.

According to him, the funds for the construction of the center will be provided in the city budget. In a building fully adapted for people with disabilities, medical assistance will be provided, trainings and training courses will be conducted. Igor Terekhov noted that there it is planned to install equipment for restorative procedures, gymnastic exercises, to equip a computer classroom, kitchen, that is, to create all conditions for a long stay of people.

"You travel a lot and see how many people with disabilities are in Europe, at airports, at railway stations, and how many are in Ukraine. We hardly see them, because they did not have the appropriate conditions. Therefore, we want to implement such a project and create better conditions for this category of citizens in our city, "said the First Vice-Mayor.

Sabine Muller supported this idea. She said that she will discuss with her colleagues the possible options for participation and assistance that Kharkiv can provide for its implementation.



"It's a great idea, we need to create conditions for people with disabilities, help them undergo rehabilitation courses, and look for new opportunities, jobs for them, and help and treatment, including ATO participants," said GIZ- Ukraine.

Recall that with the support of GIZ in Kharkiv implemented many projects. Among them - the construction of a modular town for IDPs from Donbass, the social center "Family" and the first social hotel in Ukraine.
