A study in England showed that a vitamin PP deficiency in pregnancy increases the risk of eczema in a child, according to an online edition for girls and women aged 14 to 35. Pannochka. net This is reported by the University of Southampton staff in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Allergology.

Researchers argue that the low level of nicotinamide and associated tryptophan metabolites plays a role in the development of eczema.

Their data indirectly confirm the old theory that predisposition to eczema is pawned in fetal development.

If the conclusions of the scientists are correct, then the eczema in children can be prevented by an ordinary correction of the mother's diet or by taking vitamin supplements with nicotinamide.

"To confirm this extremely curious connection, more research is needed. But we hope that we have indeed attacked the trail of eczema and will be able to defeat the disease with the help of vitamin PP, "said Professor Keith Godfrey, director of the Southampton Biomedical Nutrition Research Center.

Briefly about the nature of the study. Scientists measured the blood content of 497 future mothers of kynurenin, kynurenic acid, anthranilic acid, tryptophan, nicotinamide (vitamin PP) and N1-methyl nicotinamide. Analgesies were done in late pregnancy.

After the birth of children, the relationship between the concentration of the listed vitamins and metabolic products in maternal serum with the incidence of eczema was checked. And this connection was discovered, but only for toddlers aged 6 to 12 months.

From birth to six months, the incidence of eczema did not depend on the level of vitamins in the mother.

Why the problem does not appear immediately - a big mystery for researchers.

"The cream with nicotinamide has long been used to treat eczema, but the relationship between the level of vitamin PP in pregnancy and the risk of atopic dermatitis has never been considered before. Now in the hands of doctors can be an effective tool for the prevention of eczema - a diet, "- commented on the amazing results of the project, one of the British dermatologists.
