A group of international scientists conducted a study in which they found out which vitamin is most effective against respiratory infections and the influenza virus. As it turned out, this is not vitamin C.

The author of the study Adrian Martineau of the University of London, Queen Mary, said that in the autumn and winter time, the "sunny" vitamin D is best from the flu virus and catarrhal diseases. Many people thought that vitamin C helps protect against infections, but vitamin D contains more antiviral and antimicrobial substances.

According to scientists, this discovery will help people who live in countries with low levels of ultraviolet radiation. In addition, vitamin D is present in eggs, cheese, red fish and champignons.
