Fractures are a common name for breaking bone integrity as a result of their damage.

There are congenital fractures that result from a decrease in the strength of the skeleton from various diseases.

Acquired fractures arise as a result of the force load on the bone, exceeding the strength of bone tissue. Obviously, a traumatic fracture occurs during strokes, falls, gunshot wounds and other effects of excessive momentary force. Pathological fracture occurs from loads of small force and even arbitrarily, because diseases such as a tumor, osteomyelitis, some endocrine diseases, etc.. greatly reduce the strength of bone tissue.

When traumatic and pathological fractures provide the same first aid. Fractures of the bones are accompanied by damage to the integrity of the surrounding muscles, soft tissues, blood vessels and nerves. If fracture also caused skin damage, then it is called open.

Also, oblique, transverse and longitudinal fractures are distinguished depending on the line of passage of the fracture. When a fracture consists of a broken bone into two parts, it is called a simple fracture. There are also cloven and multi-lobed fractures in the event of the appearance of several fragments separated from the bone. When there are a lot of such fragments, the fracture is referred to the fragmented.

Often the bone does not break completely, forming a crack. This is a partial break. With a complete fracture, the bone can move in different directions. Usually this happens not so much from a stroke as from a contraction of the muscles after getting injured.

Of course, there are cases of complete fractures that are not accompanied by a displacement of the damaged bone, but they are relatively rare.

Incomplete fractures are observed mainly in children. In elderly people, coordination of movements is impaired and bone strength is reduced, so complete fractures occur quite often.

Separately, there are compression fractures, in which the bone is flattened, but does not separate. Very fragile long tubular bones (shoulder, elbow, radial, femoral tibia), so they undergo fractures more often than other bones.
