A large-scale study of dentists from the University of Rochester at the University of Rochester Medical Center made it possible to draw a paradoxical conclusion: in children who are overweight, healthier teeth.

Within the framework of the study, mouths of more than 18 thousand. American children and adolescents between the ages of two and 16. As it turned out, thick and thin children 2-5 years old do not have differences in the general condition of the teeth and the number of cases of caries. However, for children of 6-16 years of age such a division exists: if a child has excess weight, the state of his teeth is much better than those who possess slim figures.

It is well known that full children, as a rule, consume more sweets than thin ones. It has long been proven that sugar has a destructive effect on teeth. However, as it turned out, this is for some reason not affected the quality of the teeth of the owners of excessive kilograms. The authors of the study note that it is impossible to logically explain this paradox.

A detailed description of the study will be published by the journal Community Dentistry & Oral Epidemiology.
