But only, as experts from Harvard University showed, if the day's sleep is of the right quality. Many famous people boasted about their ability to sleep very little and at the same time to work productively. One group of subjects did not sleep during the day and, as can be easily guessed, its performance after lunch and evening was steadily declining. The second group was allowed to sleep 60-90 minutes after two o'clock in the afternoon. To assess the quality of their sleep, scientists monitored the state of the brain with the help of special equipment.

The members of the second group, during the daytime rest experienced both phases of sleep (fast and slow), in the evening tests showed themselves much better than those who did not sleep at all.

Volunteers who did not reach the fast phase of sleep showed similar results - although even their low-quality sleep helped to partially avoid deterioration in performance. It is interesting that in a day, the working capacity of those who did a good nap was the same as for those who passed the test after a full night's rest. Nevertheless, let's not forget that for other important functions of the body, a full night rest is still indispensable.
