Scientists have found that the fat that enters the body can reduce the cognitive (cognitive) function of a person, that is, worsen his intellect.

As a confirmation of this statement, scientists cite the results of the studies, in which men and women aged 32 to 62 years old participated, who performed four tests that checked their mental abilities, and then repeated them five years later.

As a result of testing the tests, it turned out that people with body mass index (BMI) - a measure of fat in the body - 20 or less can remember 56% in the lexical test, and those who are obese (BMI no lower than 30) can remember only 44%.

The more well-fed subjects again demonstrated a higher level of cognitive decline and during the re-testing, five years later. During his time, their ability to remember fell by another 37.

5%, while in people with a healthy weight, it remained at the same level.

Scientists suggested that this was due to the fact that hormones that are produced by fats have a harmful effect on brain cells, leading to a weakening of brain function. True, there is another assumption. It is that obesity is a known risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, and "thanks to" it causes thickening and loss of elasticity in the blood vessels.
