Contrary to popular beliefs, the likelihood of inadequate behavior during a full moon is not higher than on any other night. Scientists from the University of Saskatchewan showed that the full moon does not affect the behavior of humans and animals.

The head of the new study, Ivan Kelly, published 15 papers on this topic and analyzed many hundreds of studies by other authors. He did not find any reliable evidence. According to him, "research contradicts one another - one refutes the other".

For example, two papers published in the British Medical Journal dated December 23, 2003, gave different answers to the question of whether animals are more biting at the full moon. Employees of the Bradford Royal Infirmary (Bradford Royal Isolator), after analyzing data on patients who received bites for 1997-1999, found that on the full moon the probability of being bitten is almost twice as high as usual.

Simon Chapman of the University of Sydney did similar work on data on the incomes of Australian bitten in the hospital during the year and did not find such a correlation.

Moreover, he found out that on the nights of the full moon the number of bites was even below average, and the peak of bites fell on New Year holidays.

Similar contradictory results have been published on the number of violence, arrests and suicides in the full moon. Proceeding from this, Kelly concluded that it is not worthwhile to speak about the signs of the direct influence of the full moon on the behavior of man and animals. En.
