Historically, men appreciate the beauty of a woman in a woman, describing such a valuable quality as "harmony".

Dr. Devendra Singh, a researcher from the United States, undertook to analyze a variety of texts about a woman and her beauty, including both modern literature and ancient Indian treatises.

He analyzed more than 345,000 texts dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. Most of the texts belonged to the pen of Americans or Englishmen, but among them was the share of Indian and Chinese love-erotic lyrics.

While modern society values ??women with a thin waist, the tastes of our ancestors are not so clear. The Journal of the Royal Society published on its pages a study that says that the most important indicator of beauty at all times was not some given waist circumference, but the ratio of the waist and hips.

At the same time, our ancestors preferred a much more complete women with a broad waist.

The only "material" proof of the tastes of our ancestors are statues of different ages. Doctor Divendra spent a lot of time to measure their proportions.

In all works of art, the greatest number of times mentioned the connection is the harmony of the waist and the concept of "attractiveness". While in the period between the 16th and 18th centuries women were considered to be the "Rosen's" physique, a thin waist was appreciated at all times.

The fact that most writers, wanting to portray the beauty of a heroine, speak of the "harmony" of her waist - the indicator of the fertility and health of a woman - suggests that the waist is an indicator of beauty regardless of the social and cultural differences between people.

A thin waist and a big difference between the waist and hips indicate a sufficient level of the female sex hormone estrogen in the body. It is this ratio that speaks in favor of the fact that a woman is not only beautiful visually, but also fertile: her hormonal background will allow her to conceive and bear a child.
