Hidden salt is the most dangerous

Campaigns on educational work on the harm of salt have borne fruit: consumers start to think about health and reduce salt intake, but many forget the salt contained in the finished product.

Three-quarters of the salt we consume is contained in the finished product. Sandwiches, ready-to-eat semi-finished products, ketchups and sauces, pizza - are the biggest sources of "hidden" salt.

In this regard, the Food Standard Agency of the United States issued recommendations and produced a series of commercials that encourage people to control the salt content of the products they buy.

According to the agency, all products of the same kind have different salt content. The consumer should choose those products that contain the least amount of salt.

In addition to pizza and sauces, sausages, sausages, ham, chips, nuts and crackers are also rich in salt.



A survey among the UK adult population in 2002 showed that only 40% of people read labels and check the presence of salt in the product.

Only 14% of the respondents answered correctly that a gram of sodium is more than a gram of salt. The majority (more than 59%) of the respondents were mistakenly convinced that both products contain an equivalent amount of salt.

Experts say that limiting salt intake is a good service that a person can do to his heart.
