Scientists have developed artificial veins for patients with circulatory problems.

The device, which is represented by a spiral vessel, showed high efficiency in various clinical studies.

The developers hope that their discovery will help surgeons perform shunt operations without using the vessels of the patient himself.

It is expected that the development of artificial vessels will help millions of people suffering from peripheral vascular disease. For example, a disease such as varicose veins, whose treatment today is still not effective enough.

The disease begins when the fatty substance narrows the lumen of the vessel and prevents the flow of blood into the limb. This can cause very serious problems with the limbs and in the most severe case - her amputation.

Artificial vessels, developed before, also suffered from the deposition of atherogenic substances, so many surgeons preferred to use their own human vessels.

The researcher and creator of a new type of blood vessels, Dr. Peter Stonebridge, found out that blood moves along the vessels not directly, but by twists, which helped create a fundamentally new model of an artificial vessel - a spiral. A fundamentally new structure will help to avoid blockage of the vessel and thrombosis in it.
