Swedish scientists have developed a test by which at the initial stage of childbirth it will be possible to clearly identify which of the parturient women can not avoid caesarean section.

The researchers found that if a high level of lactic acid is accumulated in the amniotic fluid, the probability that a woman will be able to give birth on her own is reduced to a minimum.

A new analysis is already widely used in a number of European hospitals. Determining the level of lactic acid, doctors can decide in favor of cesarean section much faster.

Long-term delivery, which ends with a caesarean section, many women call an infernal test. In the UK, in more than half of cases, caesarean section is resorted to as needed, fearing for the health of the mother and child, and not at the choice of the mother-in-law.

"Every tenth birth is a long one".

A new analysis was developed by the Swedish company Obstecare based on the results of a study conducted by the staff of Liverpool University and the Liverpool gynecological clinic.

The results showed that the uterus, like other muscles, secretes lactic acid with increased reduction, but when the acid content reaches a certain level, the contractions slow down considerably.

To stimulate uterine contractions, women are injected with the hormone oxytocin, but not all patients respond well to it.

According to scientists, the new analysis, which is already widely used in hospitals in Sweden, Norway and Belgium, will help reduce the number of cesarean sections performed by women who do not need it. In turn, women who can not give birth in a natural way, the procedure for intervention can be done earlier to avoid the risk of complications.
