About 200,000 people die each year from cancer, which they earned in the workplace, according to a WHO report. In the first place of occupational hazards is the inhalation of asbestos dust, on the second - passive smoking.

According to the World Health Organization, every 10th case of lung cancer is caused by a disease caused by occupational factors. About 125 million people are exposed to asbestos dust in the workplace, causing about 90,000 premature deaths per year.

Thousands are dying from leukemia, which is developing because of the organic component of benzene, which is used in the manufacture of rubber, dyes, pesticides and medicines.

Those workers who are exposed to passive smoking in the workplace risk lung cancer twice as much as those who work in a smoke-free zone.

In her report, which was made public in Geneva, Maria Neira, head of the WHO's Health and Environment department, noted that thousands of cancers per year can be prevented by changing the working environment.

According to WHO, the exclusion of asbestos and benzene from technology, as well as a complete ban on smoking in the workplace, can prevent thousands of deaths from cancer.
