Vitamin D prevents the development of hypertension

As blood levels of vitamin D decrease, the blood pressure of a person tends to rise, according to the Third National Health and Nutrition Research in the United States.

The present analysis of causes and risk factors for diseases was conducted from 1988 to 1994 and included 12,644 adults aged 20 years and over.

It was found that the lowest levels of the vitamin in the blood of representatives of the Negroid race, then from Mexicans, then from representatives of the Caucasoid race of non-Spanish origin.



After the introduction of the amendment to the race, nationality, bad habits, gender and other risk factors, the level of vitamin all the same significantly influenced blood pressure. Particularly strong was the dependence in subjects older than 50 years.

The effect on blood pressure of even vitamin D will be rechecked in large studies. If such a link is confirmed, it can become a cheap and effective means of preventing the development of hypertension at the population level.
