American scientists found that in people with restless legs syndrome (RLS), the risk of cardiovascular disease is two times higher, according to the Internet publication for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. Net Scientists conducted a study in which 3,433 people with an average age of 68 years. Of the patients with restless leg syndrome (RLS), 7 percent were women and 3 percent men.

As a result of the study, it was found that people with RLS increased the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases twice. The results remained the same after such factors were established: age, sex, race, body mass index, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking and t.

The study showed that the risk increased among people with severe RLS symptoms compared to those with symptoms less pronounced.

According to Winkelman, the results of the study could not prove that it is RLS that causes cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, but the potential for this risk exists.

The scientist believes that many people suffering from RLS perform about 200 to 300 foot movements during sleep, and this leads to an increase in pressure and stress for the work of the heart, which in turn can lead, after a long period, to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
