Inexpensive reading glasses can save money in the short term, but, ultimately, it's costly to get your eyes on. In the UK, there are points for as little as 1 pound. Such glasses will award their owners with headaches, a dull look or even a split image before your eyes, writes The Daily Mail with reference to the study of consumer advocates.

The edition notes: the cost of good points goes up to 100 pounds and above. At the same time, a person realizes that an expensive purchase can be lost or easily broken. Therefore, most people prefer to purchase several cheap reading glasses to always have them on hand. In this case, the need for glasses when reading occurs in most people over 50 years of age.

Meanwhile, the verification of 14 pairs of glasses purchased in seven retail stores, showed: half of them is unfit.

In some glasses, the real indicators did not match those on the package, while in others it was impossible to align the central point of the lenses. One of the pairs between the two lenses had a very big difference, and the other was so badly made that the glasses were practically falling out at all.

Experts advise people who buy glasses, carefully check them before buying, as well as get advice from a specialist in vision correction. Otherwise, there is a serious chance to get health problems, such as cataracts and brain tumors, the newspaper writes..
