Regular consumption of salty foods doubles the risk of stomach cancer, say Japanese scientists. And this trend is most clearly seen in men.

Oncologist specialists for 11 years observed the lifestyle of about 40 thousand Japanese middle-aged people. Special attention was paid to the daily diet of these people, their attachment to certain drinks, as well as harmful habits that directly affect health, such as smoking.

As a result, it was found that among men who prefer salty foods, one out of 500 people was at risk of developing gastric cancer. This is twice as high as among those who try to refrain from using salt.

Of the total number of men who fell into the research program (there were a little more than 18.5 thousand), cancer patients were 358 people. Among more than 20 thousand. This indicator was 128. And the threat of stomach cancer in women who prefer salty foods is much lower: one in two thousand.
