Aging cells have "spoiled" genetic characteristics and secrete proteins that damage the surrounding.

Researchers from the American clinic Mayo have found genes that can accelerate and stop the aging of cells, according to an article published in the journal Nature Cell Biology.

Using experiments in mice, biologists studied the functions of two genes that suppress the development of tumors - p16 and p19 - in the aging process. As a result, they found that p16 accelerates the aging of cells, while p19 stops this process, according to an online edition for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. Net "Scientists who studied aging, excreted mice with absent genes p16 or p19, but these mice were not suitable for research, since they all died of cancer before they could grow old. By crossing them with another breed of mice that grew five times faster than normal due to a mutation in the BubR1 gene, we were able to get around this obstacle, "says lead author Darren Baker.

Due to the fact that other genes were involved in the aging process, the researchers firmly established that p16 causes tissue aging, while p19 counteracts this effect.

This was completely unexpected, as experiments with tissue cultures showed that p19 promotes aging, says co-author Jan van Dersen.

In the course of this study, scientists also found that the "start-up" and the development of the aging process is at least partly affected by the accumulation of aging cells in organs and tissues. These aging cells have "spoiled" genetic characteristics and secrete proteins that damage surrounding cells, leading to a disruption in the functions of organs.
