The inclusion of almonds in the diet will help prevent the development of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, according to a recent study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, writes The Independent.

So, almonds improve insulin sensitivity and lower cholesterol levels in people at the borderline of diabetes. This statement was tested in an experiment conducted at the Medical University of New Jersey, which was attended by 65 people. In 48 women and 17 men, diabetes has still made itself felt in full force, but the indicators have already alarmed specialists. The average age of participants was 55 years.

The volunteers were divided into groups. One group of scientists were fed almonds, and it was her participants who soon had a significant improvement in their well-being. Most likely, the reason for the positive results lies in the composition of the nut. It is known that in almonds there is no cholesterol, and in comparison with other nuts it has the highest rates of fiber, magnesium, protein, potassium, copper and vitamin E.
