Scientists at the Harvard Medical School say that tea and coffee lovers develop kidney cancer more rarely than those who consume these drinks in small quantities.
Researchers studied data from 13 long-term studies covering more than 770,000 people. As a result, it turned out that among people who drank on average three or more cups of coffee 240 ml each day, kidney cancer was registered 16 percent less frequently, compared to those who drank coffee once a day or less.
The daily intake of at least one cup of tea was associated with a 15 percent reduction in the risk of developing cancer. Milk, soft drinks and juices did not exert any influence on the incidence of diseases.
According to scientists, the anti-cancer properties of tea and coffee can be associated with the ability of both beverages to increase the sensitivity of body tissues to insulin. Elevated levels of this hormone are considered one of the risk factors for many types of cancers.
