A group of professors from Nottingham University, led by Andrew Johnson and Cynthia Allegrucci, found a way to activate genes that inhibit the growth of cancer cells. The results of the study are published in the specialized journal "Molecular Cancer".

The fact is that uncontrolled cell growth and the appearance of cancer tumors occur in the body due to the mutation of the mechanisms responsible for normal cell division, in particular, the "deactivation" of cancerous suppressor genes. The latter inhibit the proliferation of cells and act as a sort of control point in the cell division cycle.

The scientists found out that under the influence of an extract of axolotls / larvae of the caudate amphibian - tiger ambistoids, capable of reproduction /, the genes are again included in the work.

Thus, as a result of the experiment with artificially grown cancer cells, a group of researchers managed to achieve a complete halt in their growth. During the next two months it was also not observed.

Opening, according to researchers, will create a powerful technological platform for the treatment, in particular, breast cancer, which is diagnosed in the world nearly 1.5 million women every year and causes the death of about 500 thousand of them.
