The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially warns women who have silicone or salt breast implants about possible complications that may occur in them in connection with various clinical and radiological (mammography) surveys aimed at early diagnosis of breast cancer, a disease that engages Leading causes of death among women.

This was reported by the authors of the publication in the Journal of Women's Health (2004 No. 13), after studying the FDA database on adverse effects associated with the presence of a woman's silicone or salt breast implants.

For 10 years, this organization has collected 66 messages, which refer to the "problems" that have arisen in women with silicone or salt breast implants during or after mammography.

In 41 cases, an implant rupture was described during mammography. Among other problems: the deformation of implants as a result of mammography, the emergence during the diagnostic procedure of the pain associated with the presence of the implant, the inability to conduct a study from the presence of cicatricial changes around the implant or because of fear of the patient's rupture. Changes in the density of the actual breast tissue after mammography of patients with implants, as well as one case of hemorrhage (hematoma) in the chest gland on the border between the organ tissue and the implant on the sixth day after the examination were also recorded by the FDA.

The difficulty of interpreting mammography data in women with breast implants, as well as refusal to perform the examination for the above reasons, had very serious consequences for some women - untimely detection of breast cancer!.

In one of the described cases, the preservation of the life of a woman became possible only after complete removal of the mammary glands, ovaries, subsequent chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation.

In conclusion, it should be noted that at present (since 2000!) Only saline breast implants are allowed in the US FDA, while silicone breast implants are only used in clinical trials after receiving informed consent from the woman, t. Consent, after telling her about all the possible adverse effects that she may have after doing this manipulation of medicus. En.
