Young people who ate fish at least once a week, starting at age 15, have more developed cognitive skills at the age of 18, showed a survey of about 4,000. Adolescents.

It was found that a weekly fish dish was enough to increase overall speech and visual-spatial abilities by an average of 6%, and fish consumption more than once a week increased them by 11%. After a detailed analysis of various factors / weight, the level of education of parents, the presence of chronic diseases, etc.. / Swedish doctors at the University of Gothenburg recorded a clear connection between the increased content of fish in the diet of young people and the improvement of intelligence almost twofold. According to the doctors, the conclusions made as a result of the research are of great importance, since the age category of participants was from 15 to 18 years, when brain development allows achievement of academic achievements.

The survey found that 58% of young men ate fish weekly, and another 20% - more than once a week, thus the index of intellectual ability increased by an average of 7-12%. As clinicians say, fish is a very useful product for the neurological development of children and adolescents. Presumably, a positive effect on the brain is provided by polyunsaturated fatty acids in fish of omega-3 and omega-6. In addition, these acids have anti-inflammatory properties and play a major role in suppressing the activity of cytokines - substances that can affect the immune system health. Sumy. Ua.
