The conclusions drawn by European scientists in a recent study can be compared to the practice of dividing people into blood groups. Only this time the biologists sorted out the experiment's scientists for bacterial microflora.

In the study, specialists conducted a genetic analysis of stool specimens taken from 22 Europeans. Then they compared the findings with the results of the study of 13 people from Japan and 4 from the US. It turned out that the composition of microflora all samples can be divided into three categories. And the involvement in one of them did not depend on the age, sex, nationality or diet of people.

Scientists themselves did not expect that everything would be so simple. The researchers combined bacterial populations into clusters named according to the dominant genera: Bacteroides, Prevotella and Ruminococcus.

It is known that Bacteroides splits carbohydrates well, more vitamins C, B2, B5 and H give out, some Ruminococcus help cells to metabolize sugars, supply us with folic acid and vitamin B1, and Prevotella form mucus.

In this regard, scientists conclude that the composition of the bacterial population of the intestine affects the weight of a person, determines what and how people get sick.

Why there is a division into enterotypes - is unknown. The reasons for this can be set. For example, the composition of the microflora may be determined by the same blood group or metabolic processes inherent in the individual, or by those bacteria that first entered the digestive tract of the newborn.

Also, while, unfortunately, it is not clear whether the type of intestinal microflora can change arbitrarily or as a response to external conditions, writes membrana. Current attempts to catalog it, as well as to uncover the interaction of these bacteria among themselves, are being taken to find out what kind of diet is shown to a person, to what diseases it is predisposed, how it will feel for a particular disease and how it will react to taking a medicine.
