Physicians can now study the procedure for anesthesia of the spinal cord without involving live patients thanks to the training device, reports the BBC.

With the help of computer graphics and virtual needles, the device makes it possible to show quite realistically the work of the spinal cord and the reaction to contact with it.

The study of an anesthetic of the spinal cord has always entailed the danger of undesirable consequences, however, testing in humans was necessary, but now this problem is solved. The device was developed by Irish scientists from the University of Limerick.

As early as last year, this procedure was quite dangerous, as it could lead to spinal trauma and severe consequences. According to scientists this is a very important discovery in the study of spinal cord anesthesia and can be widely used in hospitals to reduce the risk of injuries to the spinal cord and spine during anesthesia.
