Dietary drinks do not help to lose weight. On the contrary, people who use them are more likely to recover, scientists have established. So, the one who drinks two or more drinks a day, the waist volume increases about six times, notes The Telegraph.

Dietary, low-calorie beverages without sugar can contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame, replacing sucrose or fructose. Meanwhile, a study of 474 people, conducted more than 10 years, revealed: the more people drank such drinks, the more they gained weight.

Helen Hazuda, professor of clinical epidemiology at the University of Texas School of Medicine, warns: "Such drinks may not have calories, but they still cause certain effects.

Data from the latest research and other scientific studies indicate that the promotion of dietary carbonated beverages and artificial sweeteners as a healthy alternative can have a detrimental effect ".

So, scientists analyzed the waist size of a group of volunteers, comparing the rates of those who drank diet drinks, and those who did not drink them. As a result, it turned out that lovers of diet drinks had a 70% increase in waist size compared to the rest. But those who regularly and often drank such drinks had an increase equal to 500%.
